Privacy Policy

This policy explains how TripTracker collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the TripTracker mobile app, commercial dashboard, and related cloud sync services.

Last updated: 5 May 2026

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use TripTracker, we may collect:

  • Account information, including email address, display name, Cognito user id, account tier, and organisation membership details.
  • Vehicle and route information you create, such as vehicle names, saved routes, manual trip logs, distances, timestamps, and route labels.
  • Location information, including GPS coordinates, timestamps, speed, altitude, horizontal accuracy, live tracking state, and GPS trip sessions.
  • Device and sync information, including device id generated by the app, sync mutation ids, upload status, and server sync versions.
  • Commercial dashboard information, including organisation members, shared vehicles, GPS sessions, and route logs visible to authorised Commercial Owner users.

Location Data

TripTracker uses location data to record trips, build route logs, support live commercial GPS tracking, calculate trip distance, and display route history in the app and dashboard.

When you start GPS tracking, the app may collect location data while the app is open or running in the background through a foreground location service. Background collection is used so trips can continue recording when the screen is locked or the app is not visible.

TripTracker does not collect location continuously unless a tracking session has been started or restored for live/session tracking.

How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Create and manage your TripTracker account.
  • Record GPS trips, live tracking sessions, saved routes, and manual trip logs.
  • Synchronise eligible account data between the app and TripTracker cloud services.
  • Show Commercial Owner users organisation-wide trip, vehicle, member, and live tracking information.
  • Generate route summaries and logbook-style exports.
  • Maintain, secure, debug, and improve TripTracker services.

Commercial Organisation Sharing

If you join or create a commercial organisation, certain information may be visible to authorised users in that organisation. This may include your display name, email address, vehicles, route logs, GPS trip history, live tracking status, and related trip details.

Commercial Owner users can use the dashboard to review organisation activity and generate operational summaries.

Cloud Sync And Third-Party Services

TripTracker uses Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Cognito for authentication and AWS-hosted backend services for cloud sync and dashboard data. Your information may be processed and stored using AWS infrastructure.

Public app configuration such as Cognito client ids and API endpoints is not treated as secret. Authentication tokens and database credentials are handled separately by the app, dashboard, and backend infrastructure.

Data Retention And Deletion

TripTracker keeps trip, route, GPS, and account data while your account is active or while the data is needed to provide the service. You may delete account data from within the app where supported, or use our Delete Account instructions to request assistance.

Some information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or operational systems before deletion is fully completed.

Security

We use authentication, HTTPS transport, cloud access controls, and server-side permission checks to protect TripTracker data. No system is perfectly secure, and we continue to improve TripTracker as the product develops.

Please contact us promptly if you believe your account or organisation data has been accessed without permission.

Children

TripTracker is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy as TripTracker changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
